What to Expect
Important

Welcome to our unique shared living space! Our home offers a challenging but rewarding experience for short-term guests.

This is not a traditional hostel or hotel experience. It's a hard/difficult but fun experience. Don't forget that it's also going to be hard! Adjust your expectations.

  • Living with many people in a shared space is very intense
  • You'll need to do the basic requirements of living together with others
  • It's mainly your decision if you can survive such a demanding environment

We're being honest about this - it's completely fine if this isn't for everyone! We want you to have the right expectations.

🏠 Length of Stay
For 1-3 Night Stays

Separate for people who are coming for 1-3 nights

This way of living together with so many people is very intense, and it's mainly your decision if you can survive such a demanding environment for longer than a few days.

Most people adapt well to our community living style and enjoy staying longer!

House Rhythms - May Be Hard For You
Daily Schedule

These are examples of things that might be hard for you, especially if staying longer:

  • We wake up together between 6-8 am
  • We do basic living together tasks (clean, tidy, air out the room, water the plants) for 1-2 hours
  • Don't go and have breakfast when everyone is doing these tasks

These aren't optional "contributions" - they're the basic requirements of living together in our space.

📱 Before You Arrive
Required Steps

Please complete these steps before your arrival:

We have a group for the people who are in the house: https://tiny.cc/thehousepeople

  • Please join this group a few days before you arrive
  • When you leave, leave this group and stay in the main group 😍
🌿 Difficult But Important
Honest Talk

This is difficult to hear but we have to say it to everyone because some people need to hear this - don't take it personally:

Don't ask too much.

In a hostel there is usually a receptionist that gets paid to answer questions and even they don't have all the time in the world. We don't have that here.

  • Before asking for an exception, try to offer your help with something so we feel better about making an exception for you 😍
  • Maybe you can ask us about easy tasks that you can do before you arrive 😎
  • Before you don't ask at all, it's better that you do ask, but if you can find the information somewhere else before you ask, that'll be great!
